Aroma Therapy for Kids!

Hey kids (and parents)! Did you know that certain smells can help your brain feel calm, happy, and focused? Aromatherapy isn’t just about nice scents—it’s a fun way to create relaxing moments together while supporting your child’s mental and emotional wellness. Using safe, kid-friendly essential oils, you can turn simple activities into comforting daily rituals for the whole family.

For Ages 4–6:

  • Make a “smelly treasure hunt” by hiding cotton balls with gentle scents like lavender or orange around the room.

  • Let kids choose their favorite scent and help make a calming spray for their pillow or stuffed animal.

  • Tell a fun bedtime story while gently diffusing a safe essential oil in the background.

For Ages 7–10:

  • Create a “scent guessing game” by letting kids smell different oils and describe the scent or how it makes them feel.

  • Make DIY scented playdough together using essential oils.

  • Decorate labels for homemade rollers.

For Ages 11 and Older:

  • Teach kids how to safely blend their own oils for stress relief or focus.

  • Try “mindful breathing” by inhaling a calming scent, holding the breath for a moment, and slowly exhaling.

  • Journal together about what certain scents remind them of or how the scents make them feel.

So, grab your favorite kid-safe oils, some cozy blankets, and take a deep breath—it’s time to relax and connect through the power of aromatherapy.
