ADHD Evaluation & Treatment

What is ADHD?

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects both children and adults. It is characterized by patterns of inattention, impulsivity, or hyperactivity that interfere with daily life, academic or work performance, and relationships. At Focus and Balance, we provide ADHD treatment for children and adults designed to address these challenges in practical and effective ways.

There are three main types of ADHD:

  • Predominantly Inattentive Type – marked by difficulty focusing, following instructions, staying organized, or completing tasks. Individuals may seem forgetful or easily distracted.
  • Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type – includes excessive fidgeting, talking, restlessness, and impulsive actions such as interrupting or acting without considering consequences.
  • Combined Type – a mix of both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms.

ADHD is not caused by laziness or a lack of discipline—it’s rooted in how the brain develops and functions, often involving differences in executive functioning, emotional regulation, and dopamine levels. While commonly diagnosed in childhood, many people carry symptoms into adolescence and adulthood, where it can affect careers, relationships, and self-esteem if left untreated.

Who Might Experience It?

Children with ADHD may have trouble sitting still, paying attention, or completing schoolwork. They may be described as easily distracted or quick to act without considering consequences. Adults with ADHD often face different struggles such as difficulty staying organized, managing time, or maintaining focus at work.

ADHD Treatment for Children

Children with ADHD may find it difficult to sit still, follow directions, or focus on schoolwork. These challenges can impact grades, friendships, and self esteem. Early treatment provides children with strategies that help them succeed academically and socially.

At Focus and Balance, ADHD treatment for children includes thorough evaluations, structured behavioral approaches, and, when appropriate, medication management to reduce core symptoms. Parents are given clear guidance so they can support progress at home and in school. By addressing challenges early, children have a stronger foundation for growth and learning.

ADHD Treatment for Adults

Adults with ADHD often experience problems that look different from those in childhood. Difficulties may include disorganization, procrastination, forgetfulness, and trouble maintaining focus during tasks at work. These symptoms can lead to stress in relationships, workplace struggles, and decreased self confidence.

Our ADHD treatment for adults focuses on accurate assessment and practical solutions. Medication management may help with concentration and emotional stability, while therapy and structured strategies provide tools for managing time, staying organized, and improving daily functioning. Treatment is designed to support long term goals such as career success and healthier relationships.
