Insomnia Treatment
What is Insomnia?
Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that involves persistent difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking too early and being unable to return to sleep. It can leave a person feeling exhausted, irritable, and mentally foggy, even after what seems like a full night in bed.
There are two main types of insomnia:
- Acute insomnia, which is short-term and often triggered by stress, life changes, or travel
- Chronic insomnia, which occurs at least three nights per week and lasts for three months or longer
Insomnia can be caused or worsened by a variety of factors, including:
- Anxiety and stress
- Depression or other mood disorders
- Poor sleep habits (such as inconsistent sleep schedules or screen use before bed)
- Medical conditions (like chronic pain or sleep apnea)
- Substance use or certain medications
Poor sleep doesn’t just affect your energy—it can impact your concentration, memory, mood, immune system, and even your long-term mental and physical health.
Who Might Experience It?
Adults under stress, shift workers, and those with underlying mental health issues often experience insomnia.
