Just for Kids: Park Days

Hey kids (and parents)! Did you know that playing outside together can help your brain feel calm, happy, and full of energy? Spending time at the park isn’t just fun—it’s a great way to bond as a family and support your child’s mental and physical wellness. Games like tag or “The Floor is Lava” encourage movement, imagination, and laughter—all of which are great for the mind and body!

Here are some fun park games to enjoy together:

For Ages 4–6:

  • Play classic games like Freeze Tag or Red Light, Green Light.
  • Pretend the playground is a jungle or castle and go on an adventure!
  • Try The Floor is Lava using safe areas to “escape” the lava.

For Ages 7–10:

  • Create obstacle courses using park equipment and time each other.
  • Play Simon Says with fun movement challenges (jump, spin, crawl).
  • Start a friendly game of tag, hopscotch, or kickball.

For Ages 11 and Older:

  • Organize a family relay race or mini-tournament of your favorite sport.
  • Try new games like Capture the Flag or Ultimate Frisbee.
  • Practice mindfulness with a nature walk—take turns pointing out things you see, hear, or smell.

So grab your water bottles, sunscreen, and sneakers—it’s time for some fresh air, movement, and memory-making.
