PTSD Care

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a serious mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. This may include events such as military combat, sexual or physical assault, domestic violence, natural disasters, serious accidents, or the sudden loss of a loved one.

People with PTSD often relive the trauma in the form of flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive thoughts. These experiences can feel so vivid and overwhelming that they interfere with daily life and make it difficult to feel safe, connected, or at peace. PTSD can also cause:

  • Avoidance behaviors, such as steering clear of people, places, or situations that serve as reminders of the trauma
  • Negative changes in mood or thinking, including hopelessness, guilt, shame, or emotional numbness
  • Hyperarousal symptoms, such as being easily startled, feeling constantly on edge, difficulty sleeping, or irritability

It’s important to know that PTSD is not a sign of weakness. It’s a natural response to extremely stressful events, and it can affect anyone—children, teens, adults, and people from all walks of life.

Who Might Experience It?

Veterans, survivors of abuse, first responders, or anyone who has faced trauma.
