  1. Create Predictable Routines: Consistency helps reduce anxiety and builds a sense of security. Use visual schedules, timers, or calendars to help structure daily activities and transitions. 
  2. Use Clear & Supportive Communication: Keep language simple, direct, and concrete. Visual supports, gestures, or communication devices can enhance understanding and expression. 
  3. Incorporate Sensory-Friendly Strategies: Be mindful of sensory sensitivities. Provide tools like noise-canceling headphones, weighted blankets, fidget items, or quiet spaces to help regulate sensory input. 
  4. Support Emotional Regulation: Teach coping skills such as deep breathing, mindfulness, or identifying emotions through visuals or charts. Help individuals recognize and express how they feel. 
  5. Encourage Special Interests: Lean into their passions whether it’s art, numbers, animals, or technology. Special interests can build confidence, motivation, and even social connections. 
  6. Practice Social Skills Gradually: Use role-playing, social stories, or guided interactions to build social confidence at a comfortable pace. Celebrate small wins.
